This is the work of Mariano Villalba, a young Argentinian artist whose influences include Edgar Allen Poe, Jan Saudek and Scarface! His dark surreal world is populated with fallen angels, evil clowns (are there any other kinds?) and mysterious women.

Marc-Antoine Mathieu's Museum Vaults: Excerpts from the Journal of an Expert is a wonderfully strange short graphic novel that blends surrealism, philosophy of art, and humour in an exploration of a fictional Louvre. It's smart, the visuals are expertly chosen and absolutely worth the few minutes it takes to enjoy.
My buddies in MENOMENA are releasing a new album in about a month. With their last album, FRIEND & FOE, I contributed album art, and
joined them for part of their European tour (and the Grammy’s). This time around, their MINES album cover made an appearance in a
HABIBI panel — a studio full of idols being smashed to smithereens. It’s an amazing new album, by the way. Support them and preorder at Barsuk.
Gene Guynn has been releasing some images from a new series of paintings he has been working on. This series is entitled “Girl with Stars in her Hair”, and each one is 4? x 6?, graphite with watercolor. The pieces are all for an upcoming show in Hong Kong that focuses on 4? x 6? works of art. I really love the look of these mixed media paintings, and hope that after this show Gene continues in this direction for a bit.
Kasey McMahon is a conceptual and multimedia artist based in Los Angeles, California. Her work is driven by her own curiosity regarding our distinctly individual interactions with technology, the world and each other. She is fascinated by the elegant complexity that exists within and between the natural and technological realms: both intricate and untamed in their own ways. Influenced as much by hardware stores and the monsters underneath her bed as by haute couture and fine art, Kasey believes imagination is a superpower we all possess and encourages the occasional sidestepping of grownup life to recall a child's eager fascination with the mundane.
