I am now visiting my parents for a few days. I plan to be in Halifax by Canada Day. Dial-up will be limiting my internet access until then.

I’m rolling through New Brunswick and will arrive in Truro in 5 hours. My longest leg is without internet access (aside from some buggy updating through my dying phone).

I’m waiting for my Nova Scotia-bound train in Montreal. Tons of bad graffiti and crumbling buildings on the way, but the skyline impresses.

I am now on a Montreal-bound train after the detour around Toronto and its G20 gathering. It’s a nicer train, So far 2/2 for wifi.

How to Play Monkey-Pirate-Robot-Ninja-Zombie

Monkey-pirate-robot-ninja-zombie -- the hand game

Here is the new version of rock-paper-scissors, or rochambeau, as it is sometimes known. As you can see from the schematic below, each thing can beat two other things, and is, in turn beaten by two other things.

The players both count to five (three), though it is obviously better to repeat the name of the game (Monkey! Robot! Pirate! Ninja! Zombie!). Each time you raise your fist and swing it down. On the fifth (third) count, you form your hand into one of the five gestures. (It is recommended that in addition to the hand gesture, you also add an aural component to this — see below for suggested noises.)

I’m on the first leg of my journey, listening to some Last.fm streams as I move past farmland.

5 every day, raw vegan recipes

We just finished up a 30 day challenge where we ate only raw foods (in addition to no alcohol or caffeine!), and are in the middle of another 40 day bout. It took some time to adjust to the raw lifestyle, but now I never want to go back (except for some Parlor pizza…)! Here are some recipes that we eat every day if you ever want to start introducing more raw food into your own diet.
